Essential Duties:
Reporting to the Plant Foreman and Production Manager, the job holder assembles secondary parts to the main part according to the shop drawings. They do the tracing, drilling, grinding, oxycutting, etc. Once the Inspector has done a compliance check, the job holder welds the parts together according to the shop drawings.
Responsibilities
- Read, understand and interpret drawings in imperial and metric measurements;
- Independently supply and empty their station with steel, i.e. with main parts and components;
- Make sure they have or obtain the plans and accessories necessary to assemble their parts;
- Check the parts that must be assembled to ensure they comply before assembling them;
- Do a complete dimensional and quality verification to ensure every part meets company quality standards and complies with the manufacturing drawing;
- Do the tracing, punching, drilling, oxycutting, plasma cutting, grinding and tacking of accessories;
- Identify the finished product by part number associated with the contract number as defined on the manufacturing drawing;
- Do a visual check to ensure everything complies with the manufacturing drawing;
- Read and understand welding symbols;
- Prepare welding joints;
- Completely weld all parts according to plan requirements;
- Use FCAW, GMAW welding processes;
- Preheat if necessary (welding technique);
- Do a dimensional verification of welding joints based on plan requirements and a visual verification of weld quality;
- Read and follow Health and Safety guidelines;
- Always have and/or use individual or collective protection equipment based on the task to be performed;
- Keep their work station clean and safe;
- Operate bridge cranes and hoists for material handling;
- Use and adjust the stud welder, test and make repairs to welds if necessary;
- Perform all other tasks required by their immediate superior.
Requirements:
DEP in welding-assembling or relevant experience;
- Excellent ability to read plans;
- Good knowledge of metric and imperial measurements;
- Good knowledge of operating bridge cranes and electric hoists;
- Very good knowledge of welding and symbols;
- Good ability to work as part of a team;
- Knowledge of steel profiles an asset;
- Ability to adapt to change and continuous improvement;
- Sense of responsibility and self-sufficiency.
